Blackberry launches travel app

BlackBerry Travel, features a booking discovery tool that automatically tracks bookings based on emails in the user’s inbox, monitoring ancillaries, flight delays, cancellations and other factors.

Users can deal with any problems directly from the application, for example rebooking flights or hotels within its interface.

BlackBerry has also incorporated a real-time itinerary with BlackBerry Calendar integration, a currency converter and a weather forecast that provides conditions in the user’s current location and next scheduled destination.

The app also integrates data from Linkedin, notifying the user when contacts are travelling to the same event or city.

Jim Tobin, senior vice president, software and services at BlackBerry manufacturer RIM, said: “The BlackBerry Travel app is set to be the next must-have tool for travelers, offering convenient push notifications and seamless integration of travel itineraries, profiles, and flight status updates into the familiar BlackBerry Calendar.”
